The Great Silk Road & Caucasus Odyssey

The Great Silk Road
& Caucasus Odyssey
A journey across the heart of the ancient world, from the steppes of Kazakhstan to the shores of the Black Sea.
The Call of the Silk Route
For as long as I can remember, the Silk Route has held a profound fascination for me. More than a mere trade network, it was a legendary bridge between worlds—an ancient web of paths connecting Asia to Europe that carried not just silk and spices, but ideas, religions, and entire civilizations across vast deserts and towering mountains. The tales of legendary travelers like Marco Polo, journeying across perilous, distant lands to the court of Kublai Khan, captured my imagination early on and quietly planted a lifelong dream: to one day undertake such an odyssey myself.
From Dream to Reality
During our working years, an adventure of this scale always felt out of reach—a grand narrative to be admired from the pages of history books rather than lived in real life. However, entering our fifties and stepping into retirement brought with it the invaluable gift of time, and with it, the courage to pursue long-cherished dreams. Free from the constraints of schedules and corporate timelines, we decided to embrace a different rhythm. We weren't looking to merely check destinations off a map; we wanted to truly experience them. As wanderers at 50, we chose to travel at a deliberately slow pace, dedicating a spectacular 73 days to simply soaking in the culture, history, and life of the region we visited.
Our Odyssey Begins
Our journey took us through a breathtaking, deeply immersive tapestry of nations:
Kazakhstan & Uzbekistan: Wandering through the ancient, sun-drenched oases of Central Asia.
Armenia & Georgia: Traversing the rugged, historic crossroads of the Caucasus.
