Prambanan Temple Complex
Yogyakarta, Indonesia
Standing before the towering spires of Prambanan, we were reminded that the influence of Indian civilization once travelled far beyond the subcontinent — across oceans, through trade and ideas, and into the heart of Java. Prambanan is not just a temple complex, but a living testament to a shared cultural and spiritual heritage that continues to inspire.

Comprising the remains of some 244 temples, Prambanan is Indonesia's largest Hindu site and one of Southeast Asia's most magnificent temple complexes. Built in the 9th century during the Sanjaya dynasty, it reflects the artistic and spiritual achievement of the ancient Mataram Kingdom.

Prambanan symbolizes the Trimurti — the three principal deities of Hinduism.

Intricate carvings along the temple walls narrate episodes from the Ramayana.
